Dear Colleagues,

Further to my previous email regarding the requirements of the Lobbying Act for our activities during the General Election, I now enclose the first leaflet, which is being posted out to members at their home addresses, and focuses on ensuring that they are registered to vote and making their vote count.

I am sure that all of you recognise the serious implications of the UK General Election, particularly in relation to workers’ rights. These rights were already under severe threat before the General Election was announced, as was recognised by the NASUWT Annual Conference in the resolution passed on workers’ rights and indeed in many other motions debated and passed covering pay, workload and working conditions.

It is, therefore, critical that we do all we can to ensure our members recognise the rights they stand to lose, the rights they need to assert and the critical importance of voting and voting for their rights on 8 June. With approximately only 25 working days left before voting day, we need to get the messages out quickly.

This leaflet is the first of a series of election materials we will be sending out. As we did for the last General Election, as soon as anything is produced, we will email you to alert you to the material and provide you will an electronic copy. In addition, a supply of hard copies will be sent to your regional centres.

All best wishes.
