Shout out for school reps!

As many of you know we are extremely well represented in schools across North Tyneside. However, some of our schools are still without school reps or contacts. The importance of members, school contacts and reps working together are crucial for success!!

If you are in a school without a rep please do contact us so we can support your school as much as possible. Some information on the roles of school rep and contact are detailed below:

As a school rep you will be the first point of contact the members in the school have with the NASUWT. There is a lot you can do at a school level to support the NASUWT and the hard work we undertake in ensuring the best working pay and conditions for all our members. This can range from encouraging new and continued membership, holding regular meetings within school, communicating information and keeping an up to date notice board. Full support is given from NASUWT to members wishing to do this and you can access further information at

www.nasuwt.org.uk/being-involved/become-active/workplace-rep.html

or by contacting one of your local secretaries.

Alternatively, school contacts are also extremely valuable and involve ensuring that members in the workplace are well informed about the latest developments in education policy and by acting as a communication link between the Union and its members.
